Hugh Conley, Louisiana, to "Dear Wife"

Conley writes that he is so ill he can't sit up, but he tells his wife not to worry because he is getting better and has received a good report from the doctor. He reassures her that his friends are looking after him and frequently bring him food and coffee. He believes he is as well cared for as if he was at home, although he would rather be home even if his wife had "nothing but a piece of cornbread" to give him. SMC.137.1
