Plan Your Visit
First-time visitors to SARA will complete a registration form to obtain a numbered research card. Valid photo identification is required to register. The researcher's number is used when signing the register or requesting archival material. The policies and procedures for using the resources of the Arkansas History Commission and the Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives are available here. The staff does not undertake research requests from the public.
SARA is located adjacent to Historic Washington State Park in Hempstead County near Hope.

- From I-30: Take exit 30 and turn onto US-278 W, North Hervey St. towards Nashville for 8.5 miles. Turn left at AR-195 S for 1 mile. Destination will be on left.
- From Murfreesboro: Take AR-27 S for 14 miles. Turn left at AR-27 BUS S, and right at US-278 E. Follow US-278 E for 17 miles. Turn right onto AR-195 S. Destination will be on left.
Hours & Holidays
SARA is open from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Tuesday through Saturday. SARA is closed on Sundays, Mondays and state holidays. If you are traveling long distances, please call to confirm hours/days of operation at 870.983.2633.
